The Vibe, Humour in motion

The Vibe, humour in motion. Excellent marketing strategy by phil&teds of New Zealand

I was pleasantly surprised with the extent to which Phil & Teds go to express themselves with humour on their products. That also includes their website phil&teds which is littered with fun and witty expressions all throughout the site.

Earlier today we became the proud owners of a new inline buggy or as we call it in the islands, the stroller or the pram! And spelled out on the box is “Baby not included”! I could not help but laugh and then suppress it until I got home! Its truly a remarkable strategy and one that is cleverly done by phil&teds.

We’ve always known the benefit of using a stroller and bought one for our first baby when we were in Australia. It served its purpose well and did a far amount of traveling before it was handed down to another newborn from within the family; albeit still in perfect condition.

So when we saw the Vibe, it was the perfect choice for us. We have a toddler with another baby on its way, so it was the perfect buggy to take our kids around in Geneva. We can customize it to fit both children or use its bassinet for the baby alone. This can be done by simply taking something out and replacing it with another without dismantling the whole buggy. Needless to say, it came with its own pair of mudguards; that will be handy during winter and on rainy days. When we finally get a vehicle, it can be easily folded and fitted into the most convenient spaces available. Since public transport is designed to also cater for buggies, strollers and prams; our three wheeled buggy will safely manuvour the streets of Geneva easily.

With all that thought put into designing such a unique buggy, it comes as a wonderful surprise to see splattered all over the products, a unique touch of humour. The instruction manual had a go at men. It clearly spelled out “Parental guidance recommended” with the word “Parental” crossed out and replaced with “Female” to finally read, “Female guidance recommended”. On a serious note, assembling the buggy is no rocket science but it did require a bit of patience and “female” guidance to figure it out!

The lovely avatars on the phil&teds website is also the work of an artistic genius. Cleverly incorporated into the website to give both a corporate feel while maintaining a family, friendly feel that is sure to attract the casual buyer.

So the moral of my rant today is: Corporate organizations do not need to be formal, use a little humour and add to the fun of shopping!
