Just wondering if anyone is keenly following Benjamin Totori’s career as I have? It would seem like he is not enjoying the kind of quality time he is used to commanding. He has lost his place in Waitakere to Fiji’s Roy Krishna, who incidentally has blossomed in his absence. Despite having a World Club Championship game under his belt, he did not feature until the 85th minute against Adelaide United. In the NZFC, play time has also dwindled with irregular appearances from the bench.
There is very little explanation from Waitakere but when asked in a recent interview, Totori did admit that his problematic knee which blighted his Portland Timbers career is still dogging him.
Whether he regains full fitness remains to be seen but Totori does face a major battle in trying to win a place in the Waitakere first eleven, now that Roy Krishna is exacting the same kind of precision and goals that gave Totori notoriety. I hate to think that Waitakere has moved on and Totori has become dispensable. In professional sports, thats a real possibility and no offence should be taken.
Personally, I hope Totori makes a full recovery and then continue on his remarkable journey towards achieving his ultimate dream; to become a professional footballer.
